The Role

We are looking for an experienced Decorating Supervisor to oversee and coordinate painting and decorating works across our projects.

The role will involve managing decorators on site, planning and coordinating day-to-day activities, maintaining high standards of workmanship, and ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently and in line with the project programme.

The successful candidate will be hands on, organised and quality focused, with strong experience in high end painting and decorating.

They will act as the main point of contact on site for the decorating team and work closely with our Contracts and Commercial teams.

This is a hands on role.

On smaller projects, a full time supervisory requirement may not be necessary, and the successful candidate will therefore be expected to carry out decorating works alongside the team as required.

Key responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate decorators and subcontractors on site.
  • Plan daily and weekly activities to meet the agreed programme.
  • Allocate labour effectively and monitor productivity.
  • Maintain a consistently high standard of workmanship and finish.
  • Inspect areas prior to decoration and identify any issues that may affect the works.
  • Ensure correct preparation and application methods are followed.
  • Ensure works are completed in accordance with drawings, specifications, finishes schedules and approved samples.
  • Coordinate with site management and other trades to ensure areas are ready and works can progress efficiently.
  • Identify additional works, changes or delays and report these promptly to the Contracts and Commercial teams.
  • Monitor materials and coordinate requirements and deliveries.
  • Carry out quality checks, snagging and oversee completion of defects.
  • Ensure appropriate protection is maintained throughout the works.
  • Ensure health and safety requirements, RAMS and site procedures are followed.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and professional working environment.
  • Provide regular progress updates, including labour levels, completed areas and any issues affecting programme or cost.
  • Represent the company professionally when dealing with clients, main contractors, consultants, and other trades.

About You

  • Strong experience within the painting and decorating industry.
  • Previous experience as a Decorating Foreman, Supervisor, or similar site-based management role.
  • Experience managing teams of decorators across multiple work areas.
  • Strong knowledge of surface preparation, paint systems, and high-quality decorative finishes.
  • Experience working on high end residential, heritage or luxury projects would be advantageous.
  • Ability to read drawings, specifications and finishes schedules.
  • Good understanding of sequencing works and coordinating with other trades.
  • Strong eye for detail and a commitment to achieving a high-quality finish.
  • Good organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to plan labour and manage productivity against programme requirements.
  • Commercial awareness, particularly around additional works, delays, and variations.
  • Good understanding of site health and safety requirements.
  • SSSTS/SMSTS and relevant CSCS qualifications preferred.
  • Full UK driving licence preferred.

We are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this position. As such we will only consider applications from those who already possess the right to work in the UK.
