The Role
The Graduate Structural Engineer will assist the design team in developing safe, efficient, and cost-effective structural solutions for projects across two sister companies. This role involves technical design support, coordination with internal and external stakeholders, and contributing to innovative engineering solutions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assist in preparing structural designs, calculations, and drawings under the guidance of senior engineers
- Use design software (AutoCAD & Revit) to produce accurate models and documentation
- Ensure designs comply with relevant codes, standards and regulations
- Perform basic structural analysis and load calculations for building elements
- Support in reviewing and interpreting architectural and MEP drawings to integrate structural requirements
- Work closely with the design team to coordinate structural aspects with other disciplines
- Liaise with project managers, architects, and contractors to resolve design queries
- Prepare technical reports, schedules, and design notes
- Maintain accurate records of design changes and project documentation
- Assist in checking drawings and calculations for accuracy and compliance
- Support quality assurance processes and contribute to health and safety considerations in design
- Ensure consistency in design quality and standards across all projects
About You
To be considered for this role you will need to demonstrate:
- BEng or MSc in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit for design and detailing
- Full UK driving licence and ability to travel between sites
- Willingness to work from active project sites, supporting overall site management and learning practical construction processes before transitioning into a design‑focused role.
- Familiarity with UK design codes and standards (Eurocodes, BS standards)
- Basic knowledge of structural analysis and design principles
- Awareness of health and safety regulations (CDM) and quality assurance processes
- Interest in pursuing chartership with either the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) or the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE)
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work across multiple projects
