The role will evaluate current infrastructure, identify risks and gaps, and produce recommendations for modernisation, replacement, or upgrade strategies. Must be DV‑cleared and experienced in UK public‑sector secure environments.

Your work may include:

  • Lead end‑to‑end technical assessment of complex, high‑security network environments.
  • Analyse architecture, design, configurations, security controls, and operational processes.
  • Produce detailed findings, strategic options, and modernisation roadmaps.
  • Engage with stakeholders, run workshops, and challenge existing assumptions.
  • Oversee a small technical team delivering discovery, documentation, and analysis.
  • Ensure recommendations align with national security standards and accreditation requirements.

We value people who take ownership, think critically, and enjoy working as part of a collaborative team tackling complex challenges. You don’t need to tick every box, but we’re particularly interested in people with skills/experience in:

  • Extensive experience designing and assessing secure networks (LAN, WAN, firewalls, VPN, segmentation, zero‑trust).
  • Deep understanding of protective monitoring, cryptography, network hardening, and cross‑domain solutions.
  • Strong documentation, architecture modelling, and communication skills.
  • Experience with government security frameworks (NCSC, JSPs, PSN, NIS).

Just as important are curiosity, strong problem solving ability, and the motivation to continuously improve how technology is designed and delivered.

Security clearance: Due to the secure nature of the position and working environment, you must have or be eligible to obtain the highest level of Security Clearance.
