Work on Technology That Protects What Matters
At SiXworks, we build secure digital solutions that support Defence and National Security missions. Our teams work on complex problems where reliability, security, and speed of innovation matter.
We’re looking for a DevSecOps Policy Engineer who enjoys solving difficult technical challenges and wants their work to have real operational impact.
What You’ll Do
As a DevSecOps Policy Engineer, you’ll help design, build, and deliver secure digital solutions in highly secure environments. You’ll work alongside engineers, architects, and delivery specialists to develop technology that enables faster, safer decision‑making for critical operations.
Your work may include:
- Collaborate with the Experimentation, Production and Development teams to design, develop, and maintain software solutions.
- Translate regulatory and internal security standards into automated code, for deployments in environments such as Azure, VCF and Hyper‑V.
- Develop responsive and interactive user interfaces (e.g. JavaScript/TypeScript and React).
- Make effective use of containerisation technologies (e.g. Kubernetes) to streamline deployment processes and ensure consistency across environments.
- Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate software delivery and deployment.
- Develop custom code to support Data‑Centric Interoperability (a Zero Trust/Data‑Centric Security paradigm) workload following Software Engineering principles and industry best practices.
- Provide automation / orchestration support across the Apps, Platform and Workload pillars.
- Complete Dev activities as directed by pillar leads (Apps, Platform & Workload).
- Participate in code reviews, providing and responding to constructive feedback from team members.
- Stay updated with the latest technologies, tools and best practices in software development.
What We’re Looking For
We value people who take ownership, think critically, and enjoy working as part of a collaborative team tackling complex challenges. You don’t need to tick every box, but we’re particularly interested in people with skills/experience in:
- Extensive experience working on Azure / Hyper‑V / VCF workloads.
- Proficiency in Git for version control and collaborative development.
- Solid understanding of software development principles, algorithms and data structures.
- Experience with Kubernetes for containerisation and deployment.
- Knowledge of DevOps processes, including CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities within a team environment, including written and verbal communication and remote collaboration.
- Ability to compare different languages and technologies to contribute to selection discussions.
- Ability to adapt to a fast‑paced, dynamic work environment and learn new technologies quickly.
- Familiarity with secure engineering and development practices.
- Experience with public and private cloud platforms such as Azure / VCF.
- Experience with container orchestration tools like Docker.
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and DevSecOps.
- Understanding of web security principles and best practices.
