We’re looking for an experienced and motivated Conference and Operations Manager to lead the delivery of high-quality events at our client’s dynamic venue. They will oversee all operational aspects of conferences and banqueting, manage and inspire a dedicated team, and ensure everything runs exceptionally.

The Role

  • Responsible for event logistics, inventory and supplier management, and will act as Duty Manager when needed.
  • Play a key role in driving service excellence and supporting the growth of our hospitality offering.
  • Lead, motivate, and support the conference and banqueting team to deliver consistently outstanding events and guest experiences, maintaining a 5-star service standard.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of events including setup, execution, and breakdown, ensuring all client requirements are fulfilled.
  • Effectively delegate tasks to supervisors and team members to ensure smooth event delivery.
  • Ensure full compliance with all legal and operational standards, including food hygiene, COSHH, health and safety, and alcohol licensing.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date training records.
  • Manage all administrative functions of the department including staffing schedules, financial reporting, stock control, and procurement.
  • Maintain effective staffing levels to deliver events efficiently, while supporting day-to-day operational needs.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, partners, and internal teams to ensure high-quality and collaborative service delivery.
  • Monitor departmental costs including labour, stock, and equipment, ensuring all budgets are adhered to and financial targets are met.
  • Place timely and accurate orders for supplies and provisions to meet event specifications.
  • Conduct regular operational audits to ensure adherence to procedures and legal compliance.
  • Contribute to the achievement of department KPIs and support long-term strategic growth.
  • Collaborate closely with the wider events and catering teams to ensure coordinated and seamless service delivery.
  • Hold the Premises Licence and ensure strict adherence to licensing laws and procedures.
  • Work with the Head of Hospitality to identify opportunities for partnerships and product development to enhance event offerings.
  • Take on the role of Duty Manager as required, supporting the smooth operation of the venue and its reputation for excellence.
  • Carry out any additional duties required to ensure the effective running of the department.
