We are partnering with a leading company in the defence sector seeking a highly skilled PLC & Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join its growing engineering team. This role is ideal for an experienced professional with strong PLC programming and electrical maintenance expertise who thrives in a technically challenging, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program, modify, and upgrade PLCs, HMIs, and control panels to support automation and system improvements.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair faults across complex electronic and electrical systems to minimize downtime.
- Provide reactive and preventative maintenance support across all production and test departments.
- Optimise control systems to enhance equipment reliability, safety, and performance.
- Collaborate with engineering and project teams to install and commission new automation equipment and control systems.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, internal audits, and industry regulations.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, focusing on process efficiency and reliability.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven experience in an industrial, defence, or manufacturing environment with strong electrical and control system maintenance background.
- Hands-on PLC experience (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or Mitsubishi preferred) including programming, fault-finding, and system integration.
- Proficiency with variable speed drives, inverters, and motion/vibration control systems.
- Strong understanding of electrical schematics, instrumentation, and automation systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure in time-critical situations.
- Relevant qualifications in Electrical / Electronic Engineering (HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent).
