A specialist manufacturing business operating at the cutting edge of advanced training technology is seeking a Technical Production Supervisor to lead and drive technical excellence within its Lathe Area department. This is a key leadership role within a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment, offering strong progression opportunities as the business continues to expand.
The Technical Production Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing and driving all technical aspects of a busy machining department, operating a fleet of multi-spindle lathe machines, a cold heading press, and associated ancillary equipment, all running on a continuous 24/7 basis. The department manufactures critical components used across the company’s core product range, making this a highly visible and business-critical position. With full training provided, responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
- Managing all technical aspects of the Lathe Area, including machinery and ancillary equipment
- Troubleshooting and resolving component machining issues alongside the Lathe team
- Working closely with the Production Supervisor to motivate the team and meet output targets
- Delivering technical training and support to members of the Lathe Area team
- Liaising with Production Control to plan and meet departmental requirements
- Coordinating with other departments to support wider business objectives
- Supporting service engineer visits for machinery and ancillary equipment
- Identifying, implementing, and driving process improvements and cost-reduction initiatives
- Ensuring improvements are driven through to completion
- Providing hands-on support to production when required to maintain output
- Supporting team members as needed and assisting with general departmental requirements
This role would suit an experienced technical or manufacturing professional with strong machining knowledge and the ability to lead from the front in a high-pressure environment. You’ll be confident solving problems, supporting teams, and driving continuous improvement. Previous experience in CNC machining, multi-spindle lathes, or high-volume manufacturing environments would be highly beneficial.
