Mechanical Design Engineer An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join a leading global engineering and manufacturing organisation. Our client is a well-established business supplying innovative engineered solutions to the energy sector, with a strong reputation for quality, technical excellence, and investment in its people. Working as part of a collaborative engineering team, you'll be responsible for the design and development of bespoke mechanical equipment from concept through to manufacture, ensuring products meet customer specifications, industry standards, and project deadlines. Key Responsibilities Produce detailed 3D models and manufacturing drawings using CAD software. Design mechanical components and assemblies for challenging engineering applications. Carry out engineering calculations, tolerance analysis, and design validation. Support projects from concept through design, manufacture, testing, and installation. Liaise with production, quality, procurement, and project teams to ensure successful delivery. Review customer specifications and ensure compliance with relevant industry standards. Participate in design reviews and continuous improvement initiatives. Provide technical support during manufacturing and assembly. Candidate Requirements Degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline. Previous experience in mechanical design within a manufacturing or engineering environment. Proficient in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo or similar). Strong understanding of engineering drawings, manufacturing processes, and materials. Experience producing designs for pressure-containing or heavy engineering equipment would be advantageous. Excellent problem-solving skills with a practical engineering mindset. Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and within a team. Desirable Experience Oil & Gas, Energy, Subsea, Offshore, or Heavy Engineering sectors. Knowledge of relevant engineering standards and design codes. Experience working within a regulated engineering environment. Familiarity with finite element analysis (FEA) would be beneficial.
