Our client is a well-established and innovative organisation operating within the lighting sector. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Business Development Manager to drive sales, develop key relationships, and increase specification opportunities across the UK.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong technical understanding of lighting controls and a proven ability to develop business within the electrical or lighting industry.
The Role
As the Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, developing relationships with consultants, contractors and end users, and ensuring lighting control solutions are specified into projects from the outset. Working closely with the projects team, you will manage opportunities from initial enquiry through to successful project handover, ensuring an exceptional customer experience throughout. Regular UK-wide travel will be required to meet customers and support business development activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain relationships with consultants, electrical contractors, lighting manufacturers and other key stakeholders.
- Generate new business opportunities and maximise existing customer accounts.
- Work proactively with consultants to secure product specification on upcoming projects.
- Produce accurate and competitive quotations for lighting control projects.
- Maintain a healthy sales pipeline and deliver against agreed sales targets.
- Keep CRM systems updated with customer interactions, opportunities and project progress.
- Deliver professional presentations and product demonstrations where required.
- Liaise closely with internal project teams to ensure smooth project handovers.
- Provide customers with regular project updates and maintain high levels of service throughout the project lifecycle.
About You
- Previous experience selling or working with lighting control systems.
- Strong knowledge of DALI lighting controls and their capabilities and limitations.
- A proven track record in business development or technical sales within the lighting or electrical industry.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Experience using CRM systems together with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
- A professional and confident approach when engaging with customers and key decision-makers.
- An engineering or technical background would be advantageous.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple opportunities simultaneously.
- A self-motivated approach with the drive to exceed sales targets.
- A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationwide, including occasional overnight stays.
