We are recruiting on behalf of an engineering and control systems specialist that delivers complex automation, electrical, and digital engineering solutions across highly regulated and safety-critical industries. Due to continued project demand, our client is seeking a Senior CAD / BIM Engineer to support the delivery of high-quality design outputs across a diverse portfolio of engineering projects.
As a Senior CAD / BIM Engineer, you will take a lead role in producing, coordinating, and reviewing CAD and BIM models and drawings. You’ll act as a technical point of reference within the design function, supporting best practice, mentoring junior team members, and ensuring compliance with project and client standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce and manage detailed CAD and BIM models, drawings, and associated documentation
- Coordinate BIM models across electrical, control systems, and multidisciplinary designs
- Ensure designs comply with client, project, and industry standards
- Review and quality-check drawings and models produced by others
- Maintain and improve CAD/BIM standards, templates, and workflows
- Support project teams with technical design input and coordination
- Participate in clash detection, model reviews, and design coordination meetings
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior CAD/BIM engineers
- Contribute to continuous improvement of digital engineering and BIM practices
About You
You will be an experienced CAD/BIM professional with a strong background in engineering design environments and the confidence to take ownership of design quality.
Essential skills and experience:
- Significant experience in a CAD/BIM role within engineering or industrial projects
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and BIM tools such as Revit and/or Navisworks
- Experience supporting electrical, control systems, or automation projects
- Good understanding of BIM standards, workflows, and model coordination
- Strong attention to detail and ability to review technical deliverables
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Desirable:
- Experience working in regulated or safety-critical sectors (e.g. nuclear, defence, energy)
- Knowledge of ISO 19650 or BIM Level 2 standards
- Experience mentoring or leading CAD/BIM team members
