Proof Range & Quality Inspector Salary: £26,000£28,000 + shift allowance Type: Temporary initially, with the opportunity to become permanent Hours: 40 hours per week Shift: Day shift during training, moving to a permanent afternoon shift once trained The Opportunity We are working with an established technical manufacturing business that is looking to appoint a Proof Range & Quality Inspector to strengthen both its product testing capability and shopfloor Quality function. This is a hands-on dual-role position, offering an excellent opportunity for someone with a manufacturing, inspection, testing or technical background to develop their skills across two key areas of the business. The role will be approximately 50% Proof Range support and 50% Quality Inspection, providing the successful candidate with valuable exposure to both product performance and manufacturing Quality. Initially, you will complete your training on the day shift before moving onto a permanent afternoon shift once fully trained. There is also a defined progression pathway based on your ability to complete the full range of proof testing and Quality inspection activities to the required standard. The Role Reporting to the Development Manager and working closely with the Quality Manager, you will play an important role in supporting product proof testing while providing a visible Quality presence across the manufacturing shopfloor. On the Quality side, approximately 90% of your activity will be shopfloor-based, handling and visually inspecting products from key manufacturing areas and supporting Production with Quality-related queries. Your responsibilities will include: Supporting proof testing and assessment activities within the Proof Range. Handling and visually inspecting products from key production areas. Carrying out inspections in line with defined Inspection Plans. Supporting Production with Quality queries and identifying or escalating potential product or process concerns. Supporting production Quality checks while maintaining clear ownership within Manufacturing. Maintaining accurate inspection, testing and Quality records. Supporting the internal Quality audit schedule. Assisting with calibration conformity and associated checks. Supporting incoming tooling inspection. Providing a strong and visible Quality presence throughout the afternoon shift. Following controlled procedures, inspection plans and test protocols consistently. Why This Role? from how products are manufactured and inspected on the shopfloor through to how they perform during final proof testing. The Proof Range workload is also expected to increase, with additional development projects and competitor product testing creating further opportunities for the successful candidate to develop their technical knowledge and experience. About You We are looking for someone who is methodical, practical and highly attentive to detail. You will need to be comfortable working within a controlled manufacturing environment and following detailed procedures consistently You may already have experience in manufacturing, Quality Inspection, laboratory testing, technical testing or another controlled production environment We are particularly interested in people who can demonstrate: Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach. A commitment to Quality, safety and procedural compliance. The ability to follow detailed procedures and inspection plans. Good observational and practical problem-solving skills. Accurate recording and communication of test and inspection results. Good communication skills and confidence working with Production, Quality and technical teams. A willingness to learn new testing and inspection activities. The ability to work independently once fully trained. Flexibility to support changing production, development and testing priorities. Training & Progression You will initially work 07:3016:00 on the day shift while completing your training. Once the required training has been successfully completed, you will move onto the permanent afternoon shift. The position is expected to transition from temporary to permanent employment, with a defined progression roadmap based on your ability to undertake the full range of Proof Range and Quality activities to the required standard.
