We’re recruiting an experienced Health & Safety Manager for a long-standing client operating across multiple sites throughout Cumbria. This role will suit someone who enjoys working closely with managers and operational teams, providing guidance, coaching and practical support to ensure health and safety responsibilities are understood and delivered effectively across the business.
Rather than simply policing compliance, the focus of this role is on supporting, guiding and developing managers to confidently lead on health and safety within their teams, helping to embed a positive and proactive safety culture.
- Provide visible health & safety leadership and guidance across multiple operational sites.
- Act as a trusted advisor to managers and senior leaders, helping them understand and fulfil their H&S responsibilities.
- Coach, support and guide managers and supervisors to carry out health and safety actions effectively within their teams.
- Help build capability and confidence in safety leadership across the organisation.
- Ensure compliance with UK health & safety legislation and sector-specific regulations.
- Lead and support risk assessments and ensure appropriate control measures are implemented.
- Carry out site inspections, audits and performance reporting, helping managers translate findings into practical improvements.
- Identify training needs and deliver or coordinate health & safety training across sites.
- Support teams with toolbox talks, safety briefings and behavioural safety initiatives.
- Promote continuous improvement, sharing best practice across sites to raise standards and reduce risk.
Proven Health & Safety management experience within utilities, construction, manufacturing or another high-risk operational environment. Strong working knowledge of UK health & safety legislation. NEBOSH General Certificate (essential). A pragmatic, coaching-led approach to improving safety performance. Full UK driving licence. NEBOSH Diploma (or working towards). IOSH Chartered or Graduate membership.
