Six Degrees is a leading secure, integrated cloud services provider, where everyone is welcome. We believe success lies in harnessing a truly diverse and inclusive culture. Our business protects UK organisations with the goal of enabling them to operate effectively and securely in the cloud, by giving them secure platforms to innovate and grow. We support our customers on their digital transformation journey regardless of their maturity. Our vision is to be the UK’s number one provider of secure, integrated cloud services to the small to mid-size market.

This role sits within the Six Degrees Professional Services Technical Delivery team, which is responsible for the delivery of consultancy & engineering services supporting clients with transition, transformation, and modernisation across Private Cloud, Public Cloud and Connectivity services. The core focus of this role will be to provide consultation services to our customers on Azure solutions, supporting our customers with transition, transformation, and modernization. Supporting the Pre-Sales team with scoping, performing cloud assessments, creating low-level designs, and owning the solution through the delivery process.

In your role as a Public Cloud Consultant, you'll need to handle your workload efficiently to tackle the challenges that come your way, making sure to use your time wisely. You'll also keep an eye on how your tasks are progressing within a project, giving the Project Manager updates on your status while staying mindful of time and budget limits.

You should be a highly skilled professional - someone who is well-educated, dedicated, a quick learner, adaptable, and will be able to pick up a new technology with relative ease. You will need strong technical skills with Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Server technologies and modern workplace solutions including Microsoft 365 and Intune. Additionally, you must be at ease when interacting with clients. This position is client-facing, and you will be required to engage with external customers confidently and enthusiastically. While technical expertise is crucial, it is equally important that every client feels they have received our utmost effort consistently.

To thrive in this position, you should have over three years of hands-on experience with Azure services, preferably acquired in a consultancy setting, along with a solid track record of delivering results within the Microsoft Azure platform.

How to prepare for a job interview at Six Degrees Group

Brush Up on Your Technical Skills

For an IT consulting role, be ready to demonstrate your technical prowess. You might face questions on systems integration, cloud technologies, or even troubleshooting specific software. If you have experience with tools like AWS, Azure, or even specific programming languages, make sure you can talk about them fluently.

Showcase Your Problem-Solving Approach

IT consulting is all about solving problems for clients. Think about how you can illustrate your approach to a past challenge using the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result). It's a great way to show how you tackle complex issues and come up with effective solutions.

Know the Business Impact of IT Solutions

When discussing your experiences, focus not just on the tech solutions you implemented, but also on their business impact. Employers want to see that you can connect IT with organisational goals. Prep examples that highlight how your tech contributions improved efficiency or reduced costs for past clients or projects.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

Since IT consulting often involves teamwork and client interactions, expect behavioural questions that assess your interpersonal skills. Be prepared with examples that demonstrate your adaptability, communication skills, and how you handle client feedback. Before the interview, think of situations where you worked closely with clients to create effective IT strategies or changes.
