Requirements:
- Proficient in C#
- Experience with C++ (not overly extensive)
- Familiarity with Microsoft Visual Studio and Eclipse
- Ability to transition from high-level/system views into technical detail
- Knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems
- Understanding of distributed simulation standards/protocols (DIS, HLA, DDS) and web services development (JavaScript, Node JS or similar)
- Experience with military communications, datalinks, and interfaces such as 1553/1760 and Ethernet TCP/IP (non-essential)
- Practical knowledge of system integration principles and processes (non-essential)
Responsibilities:
- Support the development of advanced defense systems from initial concept to in-service support and training
- Work collaboratively with Project Leads and Simulation Architects to design and develop simulation components
- Integrate real products, models, and synthetic environments for visualizations, demonstrations, verification, and validation
- Participate in a heterogeneous agile development team to build simulations and representations of real equipment
- Implement configuration control, continuous integration, continuous delivery, and deployment practices
- Conduct unit testing and apply test-driven development techniques

We are a world-class defense organization, currently seeking to recruit 5 C# / C++ Software Engineer subcontractors for an initial 12-month contract. This role offers a competitive rate of £65.00 per hour, with overtime available at time and a quarter for hours worked over 37 per week. The positions are based in either Stevenage or Bristol, offering a hybrid work model requiring 3 or 4 days per week onsite.
