Salary: £35,000 - 60,000 per year

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of issue and defect management processes and tools.
  • Proficiency in root cause analysis techniques and problem-solving methodologies.
  • Ability to develop, interpret, and present metrics, KPIs, and performance dashboards.
  • Solid understanding of software integration principles and dependencies.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to lead discussions on complex or sensitive matters.
  • High attention to detail and strong process discipline.
  • Ability to identify areas of weakness and where support is needed.
  • Experience working within structured project governance frameworks, such as PMO or programme teams.
  • Familiarity with Agile and Waterfall delivery models.
  • Ability to maintain and update issue registers and tracking systems with accuracy and rigour.
  • Ability to facilitate regular issue review meetings, ensuring clear ownership and timely follow-up.
  • A degree or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the timely identification, tracking, and resolution of software and system issues across complex systems.
  • Ensure consistent adherence to established processes and effective use of issue management tools.
  • Provide clear and transparent reporting to senior stakeholders.
  • Drive and prioritise actions and process changes based on clear KPIs around defect management.
  • Develop metrics, dashboards, and professional presentations to support decision-making.
  • Maintain accurate issue registers and tracking systems.
  • Facilitate regular issue review meetings and ensure clear ownership of actions.
  • Support stakeholder discussions and follow-up on complex or sensitive matters.
  • Monitor defect management performance and identify opportunities for improvement.

We are an OEM client based in Gaydon and are seeking a Software and Systems Defect Coordination Engineer to join our team on a contract basis inside IR35. This is an opportunity to work across complex software and systems environments, supporting structured governance and defect resolution processes through to 31st March 2027. The role is non-hands-on and focused on coordination, reporting, stakeholder engagement, and process discipline, with an umbrella pay rate of £33.64 per hour.
