Requirements

  • We are looking for a senior full-stack engineer with strong experience across React frontends and AWS serverless backends.
  • Strong backend and BFF experience with Node.js v20 and TypeScript.
  • Experience developing AWS Lambda handlers using SST and raw CDK patterns.
  • Hands-on knowledge of API Gateway REST/V1, including authorizers, routing, and gateway responses.
  • Experience with Middy middleware and RESTful API design using OpenAPI specifications.
  • Experience with AWS integration patterns such as cross-account STS AssumeRole, Secrets Manager, DynamoDB, and SNS.
  • Strong AWS infrastructure-as-code experience with AWS CDK and/or SST.
  • Familiarity with core AWS services including Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, VPC, IAM, KMS, Secrets Manager, SSM Parameter Store, and SNS.
  • Understanding of VPC networking, including Lambda in VPC, security groups, and egress configuration.
  • Experience with Lambda provisioned concurrency and auto-scaling.
  • Understanding of WAF and ingress routing patterns.
  • Testing experience with Vitest, MSW, and ideally Testcontainers.
  • CI/CD and DevOps experience with GitLab CI, multi-stage deployments, environment promotion, and automated security scanning.
  • Monorepo experience, feature flagging, and OAuth/token-based authentication and authorisation flows.
  • Strong understanding of cross-account AWS patterns.
  • Frontend experience with React v18, TypeScript, React Hook Form, Zod, TanStack Query, Vite, component library integration, accessibility-first development, Playwright, Pact, and analytics integration is preferred.
  • Experience with SST v2, API gateway/ingress platforms, Cognito for machine-to-machine auth, and financial services is desirable.
  • Ability to drive technical roadmaps and align them with broader organisational strategy.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for improvement, communicate technical trade-offs clearly, and work well across teams.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain multi-step transfer journeys across our transfer products.
  • Own the full stack, including React frontends, AWS Lambda BFF layers, and infrastructure as code.
  • Drive technical strategy for the transfers domain and deliver improvements aligned with our company engineering direction.
  • Identify technical debt, propose modernisation, and improve developer experience.
  • Contribute to architectural decisions around API design, infrastructure patterns, and cross-service integration.
  • Collaborate with platform and infrastructure teams to evolve integration patterns.
  • Support CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes across development, staging, and production environments.
  • Mentor other engineers and help shape team-wide engineering standards.
