We require a genuine passion for improving cybersecurity across the UK public sector. We require strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles, governance, and risk management practices. We require experience applying security technologies within enterprise architectures, including Privileged Access Management (PAM), Single Sign-On (SSO), Identity & Access Management (IDAM), network security, and encryption solutions. We require a solid understanding of IT infrastructure, technical architecture, and solution design methodologies. We require knowledge of threat modelling and the development of secure reference architectures. We require the ability to learn quickly and adapt within fast-moving technical environments. We prefer hands‑on experience in network and/or cloud security. We prefer industry certifications such as CISSP, SABSA, or equivalent. We prefer current Government Security Clearance (SC/DV) or eligibility to obtain clearance. We require successful BPSS and SC security clearance checks. We require a continuous 5‑year UK address history with no periods of 30 consecutive days or more spent outside the UK. We require full British nationality.

Responsibilities:

  • We design secure architectures for a variety of IT solutions, including large‑scale digital transformation programmes.
  • We provide security advisory services across complex programmes that support critical UK public sector initiatives.
  • We advise clients on regulatory and compliance frameworks, including ISO 27001, NIST, GDPR, and PCI‑DSS.
  • We communicate secure design principles and risk mitigation strategies to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • We research and develop innovative approaches to solving complex security challenges.
  • We identify vulnerabilities within solution architectures and communicate associated risks effectively.
  • We collaborate with clients and multidisciplinary internal teams to influence the design of large‑scale, complex IT solutions.
  • We apply security and risk management methodologies to advise stakeholders on risk mitigation strategies.
  • We work with a broad range of established and emerging security technologies.
  • We partner with industry experts and technology leaders on transformational programmes.

This Security Consultant role is based in Cheltenham with flexible hybrid working, requiring three days onsite per week. We offer a competitive salary of £45,000 to £55,000, a competitive benefits package, and a signing bonus.
