Requirements
- Experience supporting MOD Communications and Information Systems (CIS) environments.
- Experience with BCIP and/or OpNET.
- Linux experience.
- Experience building and managing Windows and Linux virtual machines.
- Experience installing, configuring, and securing laptops and end‑user devices.
- Experience administering Active Directory.
- Understanding of AI use cases and Large Language Models (LLMs).
- Kubernetes installation and cluster administration experience.
- Proxmox hypervisor experience.
- Experience with server installation, configuration, and lifecycle management.
- Networking engineering knowledge at CCNA level or equivalent.
- Cloud infrastructure experience, particularly with Azure and Oracle Cloud.
- Active SC Clearance due to programme requirements.
Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain secure on‑premise and cloud‑based test and development environments.
- Build, configure, and administer Windows and Linux virtual machines.
- Install, configure, and secure laptops and user devices in line with MOD security standards.
- Administer Active Directory environments and user access controls.
- Support secure remote access solutions for authorised users.
- Ensure infrastructure availability, performance, and resilience across development and test environments.
- Perform vulnerability management, patching, and security assurance activities.
- Maintain technical documentation, configuration records, and architecture diagrams.
- Support deployable CIS capabilities for exercises and operational activities.
- Assist with the deployment and integration of emerging digital technologies, including AI and Large Language Model environments.
- Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure, system, and connectivity issues.
- Work closely with engineers, developers, and stakeholders across the programme.

The role is based in Blandford, Dorset, primarily onsite with some hybrid working available, and has a duration of 9 months starting on 1st July 2026.
