Requirements
- Strong technical grounding in industrial digitalisation, connected operations, automation, control systems, OT/IT integration or a related field.
- Experience translating customer needs into practical technical solutions.
- Ability to engage confidently with customers, engineering teams and stakeholders.
- Experience in some of the following areas would be valuable: IIoT, edge computing, cloud platforms, data integration, analytics, industrial networking, PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, cybersecurity or industrial communication protocols.
- Familiarity with technologies such as Azure IoT, Siemens Industrial Edge, Insights Hub or TIA Portal would be beneficial.
- Knowledge of tools and technologies such as Node-RED, Python, JavaScript, REST APIs, JSON, SQL or time-series databases would be valuable.
- Understanding of cybersecurity principles, ideally including IEC 62443.
- Certifications such as Microsoft Azure, Siemens Industrial Edge or ISA/IEC 62443 would be beneficial.
- Backgrounds that could suit this role include automation, control systems, systems integration, digitalisation, technical project engineering, commissioning, field engineering, application engineering, technical consultancy, pre-sales or solution engineering.
- Ability to balance customer needs, technical ambition, delivery reality and commercial value.
- Curiosity, drive, leadership potential and a willingness to keep learning.
Responsibilities
- Design IIoT, edge, cloud, data and integration architectures.
- Work directly with customers to understand requirements and shape solutions.
- Support workshops, demonstrations and technical discussions.
- Integrate technologies such as PLCs, gateways, industrial networks, cloud platforms, analytics tools and edge devices.
- Ensure solutions are aligned with cybersecurity principles and good architectural practice.
- Support installation, commissioning, troubleshooting and continuous improvement.
- Review emerging technologies and identify where they could add value.
- Help develop reusable standards, templates and approaches for future projects.
- Work across teams to ensure solutions are technically strong, deliverable and valuable.
- Support project delivery and contribute to lifecycle support.
- Help clients understand what is possible and define the right technical approach.
- Bring ideas, challenge thinking and support others across the business.
