We are looking for practical experience troubleshooting routing and switching technologies. Experience working as a Network Engineer in an enterprise or service provider environment is desirable. An understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, LAN/WAN, VLANs, and routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF is ideal. Experience supporting multi-vendor environments such as Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, and AWS is preferred. Familiarity with monitoring, alerting, and ticketing systems such as SolarWinds, ServiceNow, and BMC Remedy is valued. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills are needed, along with the ability to remain calm and methodical during high-severity incidents. We look for someone who is highly organised, with strong attention to detail and documentation standards. A team-oriented person who has the confidence to take ownership of incidents and decisions is desired. CCNA or an equivalent networking certification is desirable but not essential; CCNP and JNCIA are advantageous. You must be eligible to obtain Security Clearance. The role is based onsite in our Technology Operations Command Centre in Newtownabbey.
Responsibilities:
- Proactively monitor network performance, capacity, and availability using enterprise monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, PRTG, and Juniper MIST.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve network faults across LAN, WAN, SDWAN, and telecoms services while minimising service impact.
- Log, manage, and progress incidents and service requests through the full lifecycle, maintaining accurate updates and detailed documentation.
- Work within defined Service Level Agreements to ensure timely resolution and high first-time fix rates.
- Perform routine network health checks and preventative maintenance activities.
- Deploy patches, firmware updates, and minor configuration changes as required.
- Produce clear incident reports, shift handovers, and technical documentation.
- Escalate complex or unresolved issues to senior engineers or external vendors where appropriate.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
- Remain calm under pressure while supporting a fast-paced, high-visibility 24/7 operations environment.
