Requirements

  • Previous experience leading teams, growing engineers, and handling conflict constructively and collaboratively.
  • Experience as a software engineer, comfortable with technology, architectural decisions, and technical trade-offs.
  • Experience in backend tech stack: Java, Spring, and AWS.
  • Strong advocate for tight feedback loops, including automated tests, CI/CD pipelines, and frequent releases.

Responsibilities

  • Coach and nurture engineers, making a material positive difference to their careers and business impact.
  • Provide technical leadership, staying close to the team's work, setting a high bar for engineering, understanding technical risks, and influencing architectural thinking and decisions.
  • Bring context and purpose to the team, ensuring people understand the why behind the work and helping shape our culture.
  • Own ways of working and delivery, partnering with the Product Owner and Change Delivery Lead to shape roadmaps and lead frequent delivery of high-quality software in a complex regulatory environment.
  • Own one or more business applications, keeping them well-managed and compliant with the business's high standards.
  • Represent the interests and context of the business to engineers and help improve the environment beyond the immediate team.
