Requirements
- Proven experience delivering legislation registers and compliance reporting in a safety‑critical, highly regulated environment.
- SQEP‑equivalent experience at Senior Safety & Reliability Engineer level, with strong working knowledge of relevant UK HSE, environmental, and engineering regulatory frameworks.
- Ability to interpret legislation, assess impact, produce evidence‑based reports and recommendations, and manage stakeholders with minimal supervision.
- Strong MS Office skills and confidence maintaining registers and evidence packs.
- Sole UK nationality.
- Active SC Clearance, or at minimum SC eligibility.
- Preferably CEng or IEng status, or a relevant degree, and professional membership such as IOSH, IET, or BCS.
- Preferably defence maritime or submarine support experience and familiarity with MoD interfaces and governance.
- Experience using Lexis Library, SIMPLIFi, or similar tools, and reviewing ALARP‑based safety and environmental documentation.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and update the legislation register for applicable UK legal and regulatory requirements using agreed tools.
- Produce the annual Legislation Compliance Report, including the review and update cycle and environmental considerations.
- Complete up to three areas‑of‑concern deep dives per year and integrate findings and recommendations.
- Provide SME advice on compliance queries, assess impacts, and support closure of actions.
- Support governance meetings and provide brief progress updates and inputs as required.
- Maintain audit trails and records, follow QMS requirements, and use agreed communication routes for technical and commercial matters.
- Support briefings, training materials, knowledge transfer, and lessons learned activity as needed.

We are offering a contract role running until 30/09/2027, with remote working and periodic on‑site requirements at Clyde and other sites as needed. This role supports our DP3 Shore Systems Integrator legislation compliance work within a safety‑critical, highly regulated defence environment. We work with technical and commercial contacts, governance forums, site stakeholders, MoD and policy/process owners, and safety, environmental, engineering, and assurance SMEs. We review all profiles against the required skills and experience and will respond to successful applicants in the first instance.
