Requirements

  • Extensive experience in Linux systems administration
  • Strong understanding of infrastructure, networking, and systems operations
  • Experience with VMware or similar virtualisation platforms
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, firewalls, and networking fundamentals
  • Experience administering Microsoft 365 and Azure
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure and SaaS platforms
  • Experience with backup, monitoring, and endpoint management solutions
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively
  • Experience with scripting or automation such as Bash, Python, or PowerShell is desirable
  • Experience with Cyber Essentials or security compliance is desirable
  • Familiarity with ITIL principles or ticketing systems is desirable
  • Experience with VoIP systems or conferencing technologies is desirable
  • Knowledge of GDPR and IT compliance standards is desirable
  • Full UK driving licence and own transport are required

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day administration, support, maintenance, and ongoing development of our IT infrastructure and systems
  • Administer and support Linux server environments
  • Manage virtualised and cloud-based infrastructure
  • Maintain servers, networking, VPNs, firewalls, Wi-Fi, and related infrastructure
  • Manage cloud platforms and SaaS systems including Microsoft 365 and Azure
  • Monitor system performance, availability, backups, and disaster recovery
  • Manage patching, endpoint security, antivirus, and access controls
  • Provide first- and second-line support for hardware, software, and networking issues
  • Manage onboarding and off-boarding processes for staff
  • Provision laptops, devices, accounts, and software access
  • Support users across multiple sites when required
  • Automate systems administration and deployment tasks where possible
  • Identify opportunities for process and infrastructure improvements
  • Lead infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and IT improvement projects
  • Support compliance, security best practices, and audit readiness
