Requirements

  • We require a British National under UK nationality law due to legal and security restrictions.
  • Experience securing hybrid environments across on‑premises infrastructure and cloud services, particularly Microsoft 365.
  • Proven experience with Fortinet/FortiGate firewalls and enterprise network security architecture.
  • In-depth working knowledge of Microsoft security tooling, including Defender, Purview, Compliance Centre, Entra ID, Conditional Access, and Intune.
  • Experience with virtualization platforms, particularly VMware vSphere and/or virtual desktop infrastructure.
  • Experience using SIEM platforms and IDS/IPS systems, including configuration, tuning, alerting, and threat response.
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and tooling.
  • Solid understanding of security compliance frameworks, including ISO27001, Cyber Essentials, and GDPR.
  • Exposure to SC-200, MS-500, Fortinet NSE 4, CISM, CISSP, CEH, or CREST would be beneficial.
  • Scripting experience in PowerShell, Python, or Bash is desirable.
  • Experience with Docker or Kubernetes is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Support the design and implementation of our network and cyber security infrastructure, including Fortinet/FortiGate firewalls and our hybrid Active Directory environment.
  • Use Microsoft 365 E5 licensing and implement Microsoft Defender, Purview, Compliance, and wider security tooling.
  • Manage and secure our client on‑site premises, services, and infrastructure.
  • Support our DevSecOps team by providing security guidance and helping integrate applications and security tooling across CI/CD pipelines.
  • Implement new security policies and maintain current policies, standards, and documentation in line with relevant frameworks such as ISO27001, Cyber Essentials, GDPR, and Defence Cyber Certification (DCC).
  • Lead vulnerability management from scanning and assessment through to remediation.
  • Design and build our security function, including the frameworks, tooling, and processes that protect our systems, data, and employees.

This is a hands‑on role with the opportunity to help build and shape our security function as the business continues to grow and win new contracts. We offer 32 days holiday, with the potential for up to 35 days depending on when Christmas falls at our discretion, a 5% matched pension, private health insurance, and EAP. The role is commutable from Lincoln, Newark, Grantham, Gainsborough, Sleaford, Spalding, Boston, Nottingham, Rotherham, Sheffield, Doncaster, Scunthorpe, Grimsby, and Hull, and we are open to relocation to one of these areas.
