Responsibilities

  • We provide strategic direction, leadership, and operational delivery across a diverse range of public protection and community services.
  • We drive service improvements, performance, and strategic outcomes while maintaining financial sustainability.
  • We lead the ambition, innovation, and efficiency of the service.
  • We provide strategic and operational leadership for Environmental Health, Private Sector Housing, Parking Enforcement, and Community Protection and Community Safety Services.
  • We work closely with the wider Neighbourhoods service leaders to deliver outcomes through strong team and partnership working.
  • We inspire staff and others to achieve through strong and effective leadership.

We are recruiting for a Head of Environment & Neighbourhood Quality based in the Portsmouth/Havant area, with 2-3 days a week in the office. This is offered as either a 6‑month fixed‑term role or a 6‑month temporary assignment, with a salary of £82,680. The role is central to delivering our corporate strategy and delivery plan, and sits within a context of service improvement, innovation, partnership working, and financial sustainability.
