Requirements:
- Proven experience in regulated industries such as EHS, Quality, Compliance, Risk, or Audit.
- Strong understanding of frameworks such as ISO standards, RIDDOR, GxP, or similar.
- Demonstrated experience defining or owning standards, policies, or frameworks.
- Experience making real-world regulatory or operational decisions, not purely advisory work.
- Strong leadership experience, ideally managing or influencing cross-functional teams or domain experts.
- Ability to operate across multiple domains or business units, not just a narrow specialism.
- Excellent communication and written skills, with the ability to translate complex concepts into structured guidance.
- Curiosity and openness toward AI and emerging technologies.
Responsibilities:
- Define what correct looks like across regulated domains such as EHS, Quality, and Compliance.
- Create taxonomies, classification frameworks, and annotation standards used to train AI models.
- Design evaluation frameworks to ensure models are accurate, consistent, and trustworthy in real-world use.
- Lead and mentor a team of Domain Subject Matter Experts across multiple disciplines.
- Act as the domain authority, resolving ambiguity and ensuring consistency in decision-making.
- Partner closely with product and AI engineering teams to translate domain knowledge into model behaviour.
- Shape the regulatory corpus and knowledge base, determining what data is included and prioritised.
- Support the development of AI-enabled products that operate in highly regulated environments.
This is a permanent, high-visibility role with a hybrid working model for Midlands-based candidates, with 2 to 3 days in the office, and remote contracts available for candidates outside of 35 miles. This is a rare opportunity to shape a new function and team from the ground up, working closely with senior leadership across product and AI while defining how AI systems make decisions in real-world, regulated environments.
