We are looking for someone with significant experience in Data Protection, Information Governance, Freedom of Information or Cyber Security. We need someone who holds a recognised Data Protection or Information Governance qualification, or is actively working towards one, and stays current with evolving legislation, guidance and best practice. We need strong knowledge of UK GDPR, data protection legislation and information governance frameworks. Experience working within the NHS, healthcare or another highly regulated environment would be important. We need someone who can interpret complex legislation and provide practical, outcome-focused advice to colleagues and senior stakeholders. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential, including the ability to assess risk and make sound recommendations. We are looking for someone who builds strong working relationships and takes a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
- Lead information governance and data protection activity across our organisation, ensuring compliance with UK GDPR, DSPT and wider regulatory requirements.
- Lead on SARs, FOIs, DPIAs and information sharing arrangements, ensuring requests are handled efficiently and risks are identified early.
- Work closely with IT and security teams to support cyber security initiatives, incident response and organisational awareness.
- Act as a trusted advisor to colleagues and senior leaders, helping them navigate complex data protection and information governance matters.
- Use audits, reviews and compliance monitoring to identify opportunities to strengthen governance, reduce risk and improve organisational practice.
This role is based in Ashford, Kent, with hybrid working and flexibility based on service need.
