Requirements

  • Strong management skills and technical capability.
  • Experience managing cloud IT platforms, ideally private cloud environments.
  • Knowledge of VMware virtualisation and Oracle ILVM virtualisation.
  • Comfortable working with internal IT teams and external suppliers.
  • Experience with resource planning, budget management, and staff recruitment.
  • Able to contribute to technical strategy discussions and provide technical input to software development.
  • Ability to produce reports for senior management and the board.
  • Handle out-of-hours and on-call scheduling responsibilities.
  • Operate as part of a management team and take senior ownership of their area.

Responsibilities

  • Manage high-availability cloud platforms hosted for customers.
  • Oversee private cloud environments based on VMware virtualisation and Oracle ILVM virtualisation.
  • Support internal IT team in delivering IT services to staff.
  • Work with external suppliers who provide additional resource and specialist skills.
  • Plan resources and coordinate out-of-hours work schedules.
  • Arrange on-call cover schedules.
  • Prepare reports for the business and for the board.
  • Participate as a member of the management team.
  • Manage IT budgets.
  • Recruit technical staff.
  • Contribute technical input to strategy discussions.
  • Provide technical input to software development team.
  • Help shape and develop the team and the technical direction of the business.
