We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer with at least 8 years of experience. We want someone with practical use of, or strong interest in, AI-assisted development tools in a responsible delivery environment. We need experience delivering production software end to end while working closely with stakeholders. We require front end and back end development experience. We need experience designing APIs and integrating with enterprise systems and data services. We are looking for a strong understanding of software design principles and modern engineering practice. We require experience with automated testing and CI/CD. We need experience working with relational databases. We value familiarity with database and caching technologies. We require understanding of secure coding and modern authentication and authorisation. We need experience delivering software in cloud-hosted environments, such as Azure. We expect the ability to work effectively across a mixed technology estate. We need strong communication skills and experience working in collaborative teams. We value experience mentoring others through review, pairing and practical support. We prefer experience with container tooling. We prefer familiarity with Microsoft tooling, including Power Platform. We prefer experience with Office document automation, including Excel, Word and PDF generation. Depending on project requirements, you may need to meet UK residency criteria and achieve UK security clearance such as BPSS and potentially SC.

Responsibilities:

  • We design secure APIs and integrations across digital products, enterprise systems and data services.
  • We work closely with data engineers on APIs, events and data contracts.
  • We support and mentor others through pairing, review and day-to-day collaboration.
  • We help make sensible technology choices that keep solutions supportable over time.
