Based in Fareham. £160 per day. 3-month contract. Ownership and responsibility for the build, delivery and collection of equipment for team members. This includes but is not limited to new starter, leaver and desktop refresh projects. The post holder will support numerous users across multiple locations on several domains and provide additional support for Level 2 engineers as required. Travel to other sites to deploy the newly built computers, desktop refresh projects, and to recover equipment as directed by management. A strong emphasis on the daily utilisation of service management toolsets. All work is recorded in the service management tool and regularly updated to support the departmental KPIs and service levels.
Responsibilities
- Receive, process new desktop and mobile computers and prepare for build.
- Travel to regional sites to install and configure computers for new users and refresh kit.
- Implement and quality test newly built computers.
- Ensure all replacement computers are working correctly before user sign‑off including all engineering applications.
- End‑to‑end application install including third‑party software installation for all business units.
- Recover replaced devices in preparation for asset disposal.
- Remove hard drives and arrange local WEEE collection.
- Record keeping of all assets recovered and disposed of for audit purposes.
- Maintain asset lists (Spreadsheet, AD and ServiceNow Asset management).
- Provide an up‑to‑date list of computers due for refresh using asset lists.
- Maintain Active Directory housekeeping for new starters, refresh and leavers.
- Adhere to MIS standards, processes and procedures.
- Support L2 engineers across the region when required or as directed by management.
- Procure new equipment, obtain quotes, create purchase orders and place orders with suppliers.
- Escalate and follow through any build server issues to the 3rd line team or management.
- Maintain loan machines along with relevant record keeping.
- Keep the build process updated and improve it as required.
- Provide hands‑on support for local backup systems (change tapes, physical troubleshooting, restores, and monitoring) to cover level 2 support when needed.
- Create support documentation to improve departmental knowledge.
- Deliver excellent customer service skills with technical support in a Microsoft Windows environment including desktops, laptops, printers, desktop software, applications and tools.
Qualifications
- Experience of troubleshooting/supporting technologies such as NetBackup/MDT and SharePoint.
- Previous experience working in a large organization supporting a 10,000+ user base across various locations.
- Proven commitment to customer satisfaction.
- Strong organisational, troubleshooting, analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Smart, presentable with strong oral and written communication skills.
- Outstanding MS Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio, and others).
- Experience of setting up and supporting smart devices such as MS Surface Pro and iPad/Mobiles.
- Driven, can‑do attitude with the ability to work on multiple priorities, flexible and solutions‑focused, delivering results.
- Experience working as part of a team or as an individual.
- Travel will be required across sites.
