Our client, a service-based organisation headquartered in Caerphilly, is recruiting a part-time Accounts Assistant to join its finance team. Working for an established and successful business, this role will report into an experienced and supportive Financial Controller and will take responsibility for the day-to-day financial transactions across a group of companies. This role would suit someone with excellent attention to detail, strong Excel skills, and a solid grounding in reconciliations and transactional finance.

The role offers the opportunity to work in modern, well-serviced offices, with plenty of parking and good access to public transport links. The position is for 17.5 hours per week, typically worked across Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, with some flexibility available.

The Role

You will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day finance function, ensuring all financial transactions are processed accurately and in a timely manner. Responsibilities will include processing supplier invoices, ensuring correct coding to the balance sheet and profit & loss, maintaining accurate and up-to-date ledgers, and processing supplier payments. You will also be responsible for processing customer receipts and ensuring accounts are fully reconciled. The role will involve daily bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, and maintaining accurate financial records across all ledgers and files. You will support international payments where required and assist with recharging tenants for utilities and other costs. You will liaise with both internal colleagues and customers to resolve queries and respond to ad hoc finance-related enquiries, ensuring a high level of service is maintained at all times. You will also ensure that all processes are compliant with HMRC regulations and internal company policies.

The Person

You will have experience across transactional finance, with strong reconciliation skills and a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. You will be confident using Microsoft Office, and Excel, including working with formulas and financial data. Sage 50 experience would be helpful. A good understanding of financial processes, including budgets and service charges, would be advantageous. You will be organised, methodical, and able to manage a busy workload, with the ability to prioritise effectively and work both independently and as part of a team. Strong communication skills are essential, along with the ability to build relationships with a range of stakeholders. You will be personable, approachable, and able to handle queries and challenges in a professional and calm manner. A proactive, self-motivated approach is key, along with the ability to use your own initiative and sound judgement when dealing with day-to-day tasks.

Salary & Benefits

Salary: £31,800 per annum (pro-rated)
