ABOUT THE ROLE
As Team Lead, you will manage and oversee a team of delivery managers and network engineers responsible for delivering a dedicated portfolio of work packages supporting Heathrow’s network infrastructure. Strong resource planning, leadership, and stakeholder management skills will be critical to ensure outcomes are delivered on time and to the required standard. Success in this role will require attention to detail, effective time management, strong influencing skills, and the ability to lead and motivate a diverse team within a global working environment. The work location for this position is Heathrow Airport & it is a fixed term contract for 2 years (subject to renewal).

WHAT WILL YOU DO

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Leading and Managing Delivery and Engineering Teams – Review, recommend, and maintain the optimal team structure in line with organizational needs, capacity requirements, and skills strategy. Act as the first point of escalation for team members within your portfolio, taking ownership of issues and driving them through to resolution.
  • Delivery Management and Administration – Champion the standards, processes, and practices defined by the company and the PMO. Promote within the team consistent adoption of delivery management practices and support continuous improvement in delivery performance.
  • Governance and Reporting – Ensure strong governance and robust reporting across your team and the works they deliver. Drive compliance with internal standards and frameworks, providing structured, timely, and transparent updates to stakeholders and management. Champion consistency in documentation, KPI tracking, and the use of data to support effective decision-making.
  • Team Leadership, Performance and Development – Lead, engage, and motivate team members by setting clear, measurable objectives aligned with business and portfolio priorities. Conduct regular one-to-one meetings and performance reviews, provide timely coaching and constructive feedback, and ensure individuals have access to the skills, tools, training, and support needed to succeed. Recognise strong performance, address development or performance concerns promptly, and provide guidance through complex or challenging situations to build a capable, collaborative, and accountable team.
  • Customer Relationship and Escalation Management – Build and maintain strong relationships with Heathrow and other stakeholders, customers, and delivery partners to support effective delivery and service outcomes. Act as a key escalation point for customer and delivery issues, ensuring concerns are assessed, prioritised, and resolved in a timely and professional manner. Communicate clearly with stakeholders, manage expectations effectively, and promote a collaborative approach to issue resolution and continuous improvement.

WHO YOU ARE

  • 3–5 years’ experience as a Team Lead or Line Manager, managing a team of at least 10 delivery managers and IT engineers.
  • Proven experience leading and managing teams, whether as a team leader, supervisor, or manager.
  • Strong governance, people management, and motivational capabilities.
  • Effective team leadership skills and experience.
  • Excellent stakeholder and customer engagement skills, particularly within complex operational environments such as airports.
  • Experience in the aviation industry and/or at Heathrow Airport is highly desirable.

MUST HAVE

  • Experience as a Team Lead or Line Manager managing delivery managers and engineering resources.
  • Experience conducting regular reviews to assess skills and capabilities and implementing development plans where required.
  • Experience reviewing resource capacity and demand on a regular basis.
  • Experience managing budgets for teams and works delivered by team members.
  • Proven ability to build and manage effective customer relationships.

NICE TO HAVE

  • Experience managing small to medium-sized networking projects.
  • Exposure to Cisco networking products.
  • Experience working within the aviation industry.
