About the role

At Footherley Hall we provide holistic care for 50 residents, including those living with dementia, in a warm, supportive environment guided by our values of compassion, dignity, and respect.

Your role as a senior care assistant

As a Senior Carer on nights, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring our residents feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while they rest. You’ll lead by example, supporting and guiding the night care team to provide compassionate, person-centred care that promotes dignity, comfort, and independence. At the same time, you’ll uphold the highest standards of professionalism, ensuring safe, consistent, and high-quality care throughout the night. You’ll also build warm, respectful relationships with residents, families, and healthcare professionals, so that every resident feels valued, supported, and truly at home.

  • Lead and support the night care team to deliver care that meets each resident’s unique needs.
  • Write, update, and review digital care plans, making sure they reflect residents’ choices and preferences.
  • Administer and manage medication safely and responsibly.
  • Assist residents with personal care, mobility, and daily living needs.
  • Provide reassurance and comfort, supporting residents who may be anxious or awake during the night.
  • Lead meaningful handovers so every resident’s care is consistent and personal.
  • Mentor, supervise, and encourage colleagues, ensuring they feel confident and supported.
  • Work closely with families and healthcare professionals to ensure the very best outcomes for residents.
  • Ensure confidentiality and dignity for all residents.
  • Promote a calm, positive and safe environment throughout the night.

What we are looking for

  • A genuine passion for making a positive difference in the lives of older people.
  • Experience in creating, updating, and reviewing digital care plans that reflect individual needs and preferences.
  • An NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care or above
  • An understanding of current care standards and relevant legislation.
  • Experience administering medication safely and confidently.
  • At least 12 months experience leading or supervising a night care team in an elderly residential setting.
  • Confidence with IT and digital systems.
  • Flexibility to work across night shifts, including weekends, as part of a supportive team.
  • Driver with access to a vehicle
