The Warehouse Person, under the supervision and direction of the Stores Buyer or designate, fills stock requisition orders from stores inventory, packages them for delivery, assists in receiving and storing inventory, and performs various other duties.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Receives stock requisition orders from Stores Buyer to fill items requested by teachers, custodians, trades and non‑trades staff, and other school/building staff.
- Fills each order by retrieving stock from warehouse, using electronic forklift or pallet jack when required.
- Checks off items retrieved and records ordered quantities on inventory control system; informs Stores Buyer of out‑of‑stock items.
- Wraps items or packs in boxes; addresses each box or package with customer’s name, address and school/department.
- Transports boxes/packages to shipping area using electric forklift or pallet jack when required; loads onto delivery vehicle.
- Assists and/or operates delivery vehicle ensuring material is delivered and received at destination.
- Assists Storekeeper with over‑the‑counter order filling and answering inquiries regarding stock when required.
- Assists in the regular and annual inventory taking of all stock in the warehouse.
- Assists in the receiving and storing of inventory as directed.
- Other duties when required.
Qualifications
- Completed secondary education with one‑year previous shipping and receiving experience.
- Forklift certificate considered an asset.
- Experience in shipping, receiving, and storing controlled products under WHMIS, along with computerized inventory control software is an asset.
- Must possess a valid Province of Manitoba driver’s license to a minimum of class 5F standard level.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office required.
- Work independently and within a team environment.
- Oral and written communication skills and the ability to interact efficiently with individuals from other departments, schools, divisions or outside organizations is required.
- Accuracy and good organizational skills with the ability to work in an environment with multiple interruptions is required.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines is required.
- Must possess the strength, stamina and physical capabilities to work in crawlspaces, climb stairs/ladders, move objects over 25 kgs in weight and operate all equipment required to complete the functions of the position.
