Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation and revision of safety talks, safety and health programs, and safe work procedures;
- Monitor and update portals, folders, documents, and work instructions;
- Maintain accurate records of health and safety incidents, inspections, and training activities in accordance with division protocols;
- Perform safety checks across school buildings and assist inspections during construction projects to ensure adherence to health and safety regulations;
- Update, track, and organize emergency preparedness materials and communication means;
- Prepare materials (e.g., toolbox talks, training schedules) for staff in collaboration with the Health and Safety Training Officer;
- Help the team identify potential safety hazards within school facilities and suggest corrective measures;
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Student currently pursuing or recently completed studies in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field;
- Familiarity with workplace safety standards, regulations, and procedures is an asset;
- Strong eye for identifying potential hazards and ensuring health and safety procedures are followed;
- Effective communication skills with staff at all levels of the organization;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;
- Strong time and priority management skills, working with a sense of urgency to meet or exceed deadlines;
- Ability to assist with multiple tasks and maintain accurate records and documentation;
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and reliable vehicle;
