Calling All Teacher Candidates Graduating in 2026! We invite teacher candidates who will graduate in 2026 to apply for our substitute teacher roster. Qualified candidates will begin working as soon as they become eligible.

What Happens After I Apply?

Candidate will be contacted by a WSD administrator for an interview.

What to Expect in the Interview

  • Virtual interviews on Microsoft Teams or in-person at a school.
  • Situational questions using examples from practicum experience.
  • Portfolio (optional) – e.g., a lesson plan you created.

When Will I Hear Back?

You will be contacted soon after your interview by email to confirm employment. Complete the onboarding documents emailed to you promptly. Once you obtain your letter from the Professional Certification Unit—Manitoba Education authorizing you to work, you can start working.

Required Application Materials

  • Resume – include schools where you completed student practicums and classroom grade levels.
  • At least two summative practicum evaluations from the 2024-2026 school years (most recent if available).
  • Three professional references from supervisors during teaching or practicum (include contact name, email, phone).
  • Additional documentation upon hire:
    • Original Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and Child Abuse Registry check.
    • PSP Number (Professional School Personnel – MB. Teaching Certificate Number – wallet-size card).
    • Original transcripts.
