This is a full-time, permanent position. The Student-Centered Services Support Teacher works collaboratively with the divisional family of schools interdisciplinary support teams to ensure appropriate educational programming for all. Reporting to and under the direction of the Divisional Principal of Student Services, they assist and ensure that home schools provide the best possible inclusive educational environments, programming and services for children and youth.

Start Date: September 8, 2026

Duties:

  • Ensuring that all students of Winston School Division experience belonging, engagement and meaningful learning that will improve their life prospects and flourish in their catchment school;
  • Prioritizing the work and learning priorities of the schools under the leadership of the principal and walking alongside schools’ student support teams through co‑teaching utilizing a “one‑kid at a time” student‑specific planning process;
  • Collaborating with a family of schools’ divisional support team made up of teachers, clinicians, EAs, and Indigenous Education and Settlement workers to provide appropriate educational programming for all students;
  • Strengthening the capacity of educators within all WSD schools to hold onto all children at their home school;
  • Enacting a strength‑based mindset believing all children have special needs and are gifted;
  • Decolonizing traditionally colonial models of support services and promoting knowledge of Indigenous perspectives and culture;
  • Demonstrating the ability to work with parents and guardians as an ally;
  • Maintaining strong partnerships with Manitoba Education and Early Childhood Learning, SSCY, Child and Family Service Agencies, parent associations and other community agencies;
  • Using evidence‑based educational practices, guiding texts and research to inform the work with children, families and staff.

Qualifications:

  • Manitoba Teachers’ Certificate;
  • Special Education or School Counsellor Certification or working towards these qualifications through a post‑baccalaureate or master’s degree in Education is an asset;
  • Minimum of five years successful teaching experience;
  • Significant experience as a teacher supporting children with diverse needs focusing on rigor, relevance and relationship at the centre of all planning for inclusion;
  • Experience working as an IERT, guidance counsellor, or resource/support teacher;
  • Knowledge of Manitoba Education and Early Childhood Learning’s support documents;
  • Knowledge of neurodiversity, restorative practices, mental health literacy, trauma‑informed practices;
  • Dedication to anti‑racism, equity and diversity;
  • Proven commitment to Truth and Reconciliation;
  • Proven ability to build collaborative cultures founded on integrity and collective purpose.
