The Senior Project Manager (Civils) is responsible for the full management and delivery of allocated civil engineering contract(s) within the region, reporting to the Regional Director. This role leads all aspects of project execution including commercial management, HSEQS compliance, resource planning and client and supply chain relationships. The position requires a strategic and handsâon leader who drives operational excellence, risk mitigation and stakeholder satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Prepare project programmes, method statements, preliminaries and submission documentation.
- Chair project startâup and internal coordination meetings.
- Develop procurement strategy with QS and prequalify key supply chain partners for early awards.
- Establish and manage preliminary Commercial Risk Registers, implementing mitigation plans.
- Collaborate with SQS to develop procurement schedules and monitor progress.
- Ensure preparation of Health, Safety & Environmental plans, including Temporary Works Registers.
- Plan and agree site logistics and layout in accordance with company policies.
- Communicate site start dates to statutory authorities and stakeholders.
- Develop employee resource plans aligned with Regional Director expectations.
- Define and implement design strategies including BIM, DRM and scope of novated services where applicable.
Construction & Design Management
- Oversee consultant and subcontractor design delivery, including BIM implementation.
- Manage subcontractor engagement, progress meetings and preâorder reviews.
- Supervise employee resourcing, ensuring coverage during leave or training.
- Manage information flows and scheduling to support project delivery.
- Chair internal team and subcontractor meetings; ensure accurate minuteâtaking and distribution.
- Maintain detailed understanding and management of project critical paths.
- Prepare contract reports and manage preliminaries per PEP, including extension of time applications with QS collaboration.
- Uphold HSEQS standards as a core priority throughout project execution.
Project Monitoring & Commercial Management
- Review constructability and identify commercially advantageous execution methods.
- Monitor site progress against programme, coordinating with subcontractors and site managers.
- Control and report on project budgets and progress to internal and external stakeholders regularly.
- Implement quality management cycles through package owners.
- Lead onsite delivery of HSEQS plans and quality programmes.
- Present project status at Monthly CVR / CRM meetings with Sisk management.
- Oversee compliance roles such as "Certified Builder" under statutory regulations.
- Drive timely achievement of Practical Completion Certificates.
PostâConstruction
- Ensure client aftercare and postâhandover commissioning adjustments are completed.
- Support SQS with loss and expense claims and provide data for Final Accounts.
- Complete project data sheets and secure client references.
- Maintain strong client and design team relationships to safeguard contractual position and future opportunities.
- Manage defects identification and resolution to achieve the Certificate of Making Good Defects.
Leadership & Development
- Lead the PDP process for project team members, promoting continuous development and learning.
- Motivate and manage project teams to achieve effective and collaborative working.
Experience & Skills
- Relevant sector experience with demonstrable 'end to end' project management across multiple projects.
- Technical knowledge of civil, structural, architectural and M&E aspects related to civil projects.
- Proficient in BIM concepts and digital project delivery tools.
- Proven commercial awareness, negotiation skills and conflict resolution experience.
Qualifications
- IOSH or equivalent health & safety management certification.
- CDM/PSCS awareness, Behavioural Based Safety training, Root Cause Analysis.
- Temporary Works & Excavation Safety certification.
- Working at Heights, Scaffolding, Lifting & Cranage operations training.
Desirable
- Academic/professional qualification in constructionârelated subject, ideally chartered status.
