Responsibilities

  • Be the point of contact for the project for all H&S related activities.
  • Build working relationships with supply team management in particular SC H&S managers.
  • Attend Start Up meetings with Sisk site teams. Where requested attend other meetings with Client & supply chain.
  • Coach staff at all levels in Health and Safety expectations and standards.
  • Implement the management system and coach and encourage others to use it appropriately.
  • Foster innovative ideas for enhanced safety performance.
  • Deliver appropriate training.
  • Understand bespoke client requirements.
  • Liaise with enforcement authorities if they attend site on routine visits or to investigate following an incident.
  • Carry out high quality safety inspections of Sisk workplaces at a frequency and with the intrusiveness as coached by the BU HSE Manager.
  • Perform risk reviews.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership skills.
  • Assist the BU HSE Manager in the consistent roll out of company strategy and expectations within OHSMS.
  • Manage external H&S related systems.
  • Drive a culture of responsibility and accountability.
  • Integrate as part of the project delivery team, consistently supporting through education and risk management whilst maintaining objectiveness.
  • Ensure all inspections required by the OHSMS are completed in a timely manner, mentor and coach the standards where required.
  • Manage, lead and investigate all events and post event management coordination.
  • Be able to self manage and organise.
  • Aspiration to perform at highest levels.
  • Be flexible in working commitments (Nights / Weekends) where project requirements require.
  • Contribute to H&S team consultations.

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in the construction industry.
  • Minimum 3 years as a health and safety professional.
  • Technical membership of IOSH (Tech IOSH).
  • Identify and alert the HSE Manager to any period of inadequate safety cover.
  • Assist tender and prequalification teams by advising on safety concerns and practical solutions where required.
  • Attend project start up meetings and supply chain meetings when requested.
  • Deliver appropriate health and safety training to site staff.
  • Stay informed on legislative changes and industry best practice to ensure competent advice is provided.
  • Recognise the limits of competence and seek further support where required.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Effective interpersonal and engagement skills.
  • Understanding of performance management processes.

Qualifications

  • Cert IOSH or NEBOSH Construction Certificate with Industry Experience.
  • Demonstrate experience of similar projects.
  • Good IT Skills (Office Suite).
  • Training Qualifications beneficial.
  • Knowledge of significant lifting.
  • Auditing experience beneficial.
  • TWC/S beneficial.
  • Building safety act awareness.
  • Fire risk assessor training beneficial.
