John Sisk & Son are looking to recruit a Quantity Surveyor to join our UK Rail Business Unit. As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be working within and assisting the commercial and construction team to ensure a successful project is delivered, while maintaining relationships, to maximise commercial returns and manage risk. Responsibilities
- Implement commercial strategy
- Support the SQS and MQS commercial functions, assisting with and taking responsibility for:
- Preparing tenders, analysing, selecting appropriate subcontractors, negotiation and finalising subcontract orders, financial and commercial management of subcontractors to Final Account completion.
- Site records and document control
- Site measurement records
- Assisting in the preparation of forecasts, targets and CV reconciliations
- Valuations
- Prepare variations with adequate records and details, agree as works progress
- Update projected Final Account, prepare and submit in a timely manner
- Liaise with and commercially influence/challenge site management team
- Maintain and protect JSS commercial and contractual entitlement
- CVR - Be actively involved in and understand the process, maintain independent view
- Risk/opportunity - Review and consider
- Insurances/warranties - Develop understanding
- Cash management - Be aware and be actively involved to ensure good cash management
- Tender - Support as required
- Manage and oversee AQS and TQS, checking and taking responsibility for their work
- Involvement with and take some responsibility for:
- Maintaining site records, control documents
Experience
- Demonstrate clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to effectively utilise a range of technology platforms
- Be fully conversant with the use of the Standard Method of Measurement
- Demonstrate ownership/commercial awareness
- Effective time management, organisational, interpersonal and negotiation skills
Qualifications
- Educated to degree level and working toward the relevant professional accreditation
- JCT Letter and report writing
