The Design Technican is a key engineering role within the Building Envelopes and Engineering Services teams.

Reporting to a Design Engineer, this role provides support in design, technical assessment and project coordination while developing practical experience and professional engineering skills.

The position offers exposure to multi-disciplinary construction projects, design processes and emerging technologies in building envelopes.

  • Design & Techical Support
  • Assist in preparation of technical drawings, 2D and 3D models and supporting documentation.
  • Support the review and checking of design information and details for compliance with project specifications and standards.
  • Assist with material research, product specification and minor design solutions.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers and technical support staff to ensure design quality and constructability.
  • Assist in the resolution of minor technical queries from site or project teams.
  • Project coordination and documentation
  • Maintain accurate records of drawings, specifications and project correspondence.
  • Support the assembly and organisation of technical information for project teams.
  • Assist in coordinating information with contractors, suppliers and design teams.
  • Support site visits and inspections to gain practical experience and understanding of construction methods.

  • Participate in structured training and CPD programmes to develop technical expertise.
  • Gain knowledge of building envelope systems, construction standards and design regulations.

Essential

  • Recent graduate in Civil, Structural, Architectural or related Engineering discipline.
  • Basic knowledge of building envelope systems and construction principles.
  • Good organisation, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks under guidance.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with willingness to learn from senior engineers.
  • Motivated, proactive and committed to building a career in construction engineering.

Desirable

  • Familiarity with CAD or BIM software (Auto CAD, Revit) is desirable.

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, Structural Engineering, Architecture or a related discipline.
