Sisk are looking for a Supervisor to join our public grounds work scheme in Leeds. The Supervisor reports to the Contracts Manager and works closely with the Quantity Surveyor. The Supervisor manages the onsite programme, ensuring delivery, workmanship and safety, and secures adequate labour, plant, materials and subcontractor resources in line with company policies.
Responsibilities
- Establish and monitor key stage programmes
- Set up the site and maintain site security (e.g., maintain site hutting, hoardings and signboards to present a tidy and professional appearance)
- Take possession of the site, plan and coordinate trade activities
- Apply for temporary service connections
- Interpret drawings and specifications and communicate directions to site personnel, subcontractors and suppliers
- Ensure method statements and risk assessments for high-risk activities are completed
- Request outstanding information from the professional team and confirm all verbal instructions
- Assist with ensuring all necessary approvals are in place to allow the project to progress without risk (e.g., hording licence)
- Review buildability and identify methods of construction with commercial or programme advantage where possible
- With the Environmental Co‑ordinator implement environmental controls and work towards the objectives set out in the HSE plan (Civils)
- Attend site meetings, subcontractor and internal meetings – maintain and circulate notes and action points
- Oversee 2–3 gangs
Qualifications & Training
- Good written and verbal communication skills, able to communicate with colleagues, clients and third parties in a warm and persuasive way, both formally and informally, and to alter style and method to suit audience
- At least ten years of experience within a construction management environment with a similar national/regional contractor
- Strong analytical skills
- Organised with good time management and capable of proactive planning
- First Aid at Work certificate
- IOSH or equivalent H&S management training
- Temporary Works & Excavation Safety training
- Permitting requirements for live energy works (must be in conjunction with Site & Safety Management)
- Working at Heights & Scaffolding training
- Lifting & Cranage operations training
- Other HSEQS training as per site HSE plan
