Responsibilities

  • Prepare tenders, analyse and select subcontractors, negotiate and finalise subcontract orders.
  • Manage financial and commercial aspects of subcontractors to final account completion.
  • Maintain site records and document control.
  • Record site measurements.
  • Assist with forecasts, targets and contract value reconciliations.
  • Prepare valuations and variations with sufficient records and details, agreeing changes as works progress.
  • Update projected final account and submit it in a timely manner.
  • Liaise with site management to influence and challenge commercial matters.
  • Implement commercial strategy.
  • Maintain and protect John Sisk & Son commercial and contractual entitlements.
  • Participate in contract value reviews maintaining an independent view.
  • Identify and assess risks and opportunities.
  • Develop understanding of insurances and warranties.
  • Engage in cash management activities to ensure good cash flow.
  • Support tender processes as required.
  • Supervise and oversee Assistant and Trainee Quantity Surveyors, checking their work.
  • Apply clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effectively utilise technology platforms.
  • Be fully conversant with the Standard Method of Measurement.
  • Demonstrate commercial awareness and ownership.
  • Apply time management, organisational, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Required
  • Degree level education and working towards relevant professional accreditation.
  • Knowledge of JCT contracts.
  • Letter and report writing skills.
  • Negotiation skills.
  • Contract value reviews (CVRs).
  • 2‑day safety appreciation course including contract and commercial awareness.
  • CIOB membership or eligibility.

Desirable

  • Experience with larger Design and Build contracts.
  • Knowledge of claims and dispute resolution.
  • Understanding of contract law.
  • Involvement with contracts above €15m without responsibility.
  • Responsibility for controlling traditional contracts.
  • Supervise Assistant Quantity Surveyors and sign‑off Standard Method of Measurement or measurement issues.
