Responsibilities
- Support the commercial team in day-to-day duties.
- Assist with the preparation of tenders including measurement, packaging and analysis.
- Assist with variations, valuations and final accounts under supervision.
- Prepare subcontractor valuations and final accounts with guidance.
- Carry out site measurement and maintain accurate records and control documents.
- Monitor progress on site and report on commercial impacts.
- Attend site and subcontractor meetings as required.
- Contribute to cost value reconciliations (CVRs) and cash management under supervision.
- Assist with the implementation of the commercial strategy.
- Ensure risk and opportunity are considered during all commercial activities.
- Act professionally at all times and support the commercial team in upholding company standards.
- Gain experience in traditional contracts with some responsibility.
- Gain exposure, without full responsibility, to subcontractor negotiations, contract law interpretation, and design and build contracts.
Qualifications
Essential
- Ability to use Microsoft Office applications effectively.
- Familiarity with the Standard Method of Measurement.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team and build relationships.
- Demonstrates commercial awareness and willingness to learn.
- Degree in Quantity Surveying (completed or currently in progress).
- Understanding of the Standard Method of Measurement (SMM).
- Awareness of JCT forms of contract.
Desirable
- Experience working on contracts over €5m or £5m.
- Exposure to contracts over €15m or £15m.
- Some knowledge of subcontractor negotiation and contract administration.
- Additional training or experience in NEC contract forms.
- Involvement in industry placements or work experience.
