The BIM Engineer plays a critical role within the Digital Project Delivery (DPD) team, supporting project teams to develop, manage and deliver multi‑disciplinary BIM standards and digital strategies. The role provides technical expertise in implementing, developing, and managing a successful BIM process from Pre‑contract through to project delivery and handover. The BIM Engineer works closely with project teams, sub‑contractors, and design consultants to ensure compliance with company‑wide BIM standards, optimise digital workflows, and enhance project delivery outcomes.

Pre-Contract Stage
  • Support the review of Employer’s Information Requirements (EIR) and development of BIM Execution Plans (BEP) and associated documents (MPDT, MIDP, TIDP, SCDC assessments).
  • Review 3D BIM models received at tender stage for federation, engineering checks, clash detection, logistics, and cost analysis.
  • Assist BIM Lead with assessment of supply chain digital capabilities.
  • Produce temporary works 3D models for technical review, clash detection, and cost estimation.
  • Collaborate with planning teams to develop and deliver 4D BIM models.
  • Develop visualisations and interactive 3D models for technical and client presentations.
Project Delivery Stage
  • Act as BIM point of contact on‑site, providing walkthroughs, demonstrations, and technical guidance to stakeholders.
  • Support project teams in understanding and meeting contractual BIM obligations.
  • Assist in production and delivery of project BEP, MIDP, MPDT, and digital implementation strategy.
  • Review and validate Project Information Models (PIM) developed by design teams and sub‑contractors.
  • Conduct weekly clash detection, issue reporting, and liaise with design teams to resolve conflicts.
  • Explore digital construction innovations and cutting‑edge technologies to enhance workflows.
  • Support planning and logistics teams in developing 4D BIM strategies for construction sequencing and traffic management.
  • Promote integration of digital field tools and 3D BIM models with site management teams.
  • Coordinate 3D models during design and engineering team meetings.
  • Manage and validate sub‑contractor deliverables in accordance with BEP and associated documents.
  • Support BIM Lead with audits, lessons learned, and reporting of DPD benefits across projects.
Digital Tools & Systems
  • Autodesk Revit – Advanced use for 3D model development, editing, and publishing.
  • Autodesk Navisworks – Expert in NWD files for navigation, clash detection, and model validation.
  • Autodesk AutoCAD – Competent in producing, editing, and publishing 2D/3D data.
  • Synchro Pro – Desirable knowledge for producing fully coordinated 4D BIM models.
  • CDE Platforms – Essential knowledge of Viewpoint for Projects (VFP), Autodesk 360 or equivalent.
Qualifications – Essential
  • 2‑3+ years’ experience working on multi‑disciplinary projects implementing BIM Level 2 standards.
  • Demonstrated technical expertise in multi‑disciplinary BIM workflows and digital project delivery.
  • Strong understanding of ISO 19650, BS 1192, and PAS 1192 standards.
  • Degree qualified in Construction, Computing, Engineering, Architecture or related discipline.
Qualifications – Desirable
  • Ability to work in multi‑disciplinary, complex project environments.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with pre‑contract and operational teams.
  • Excellent reporting, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Self‑motivated with ability to manage and prioritise workload effectively.
  • Full membership of relevant professional institution desirable.
