To monitor and measure the quality standards of finished goods to ensure that all artificial turf products that leave the Factory are fit for purpose, in compliance with the production specification and is representative of the Company's commitment to the highest quality standards in the sports surface and artificial turf market. To assist in the development, implementation, review and continual improvement of quality standards and quality management systems. To assist in the daily running of Operations and provide support cover in the absence of the Head of Operations. To oversee the management of the ISO 9001 certification system. To manage and co-ordinate the control documentation, audit and certification processes relating to ISO/certified business management systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES/TASKS
- Quality Control
To be aware of all current product specifications, production methods, testing methods and testing criteria in relation to the production of artificial turf and in particular the carpet latex backing process. To inspect, test, monitor and measure raw materials used in the manufacturing process, including, but not necessarily limited to:
- Latex viscosity & coverage, including solids content, pH, etc.
- Polyurethane raw materials.
- Yarn specification & quality
- Backing specification & quality including decitex & colour
To inspect, test, monitor and measure internal production processes, materials and turf products before, during and after production including, but not necessarily limited to:
- Perforations
- Pile height
- Stitch length
- Tuft anchorage
- Oven temperatures
- Weight Checks
- Moisture content
- Visual defects — streaks, loops, long ends, latex on face, shrinkage
To ensure that finished goods which have passed all quality control are removed from process for onward distribution. To ensure that finished goods which fail testing or are rejected, are appropriately and clearly labelled and removed to a clearly marked quarantined area. To report and discuss inspection and test data with Technical Personnel, the Management Team and Supervisors as appropriate, including feeding back information relating to quality issues to key stakeholders. To maintain accurate written and digital records on measurement data, completing all QC paperwork as required, in a timely manner. All records to be centrally available to key stakeholders. To report faults effectively and immediately; and recommend adjustments or changes where relevant. To implement changes if authorized to do so and ensure any changes are documented in the controlled management system. To implement agreed corrective actions. To be responsible for, and liaise with the Maintenance team regarding, the maintenance, servicing and calibration of any test and monitoring equipment; and any process equipment which has a direct impact on quality control e.g. ovens. To assist in the investigation of quality customer complaints and quality incidents as required; including management and maintenance of all non-conformances. To hold regular Quality Control meetings with the Management Team. Attend weekly Production & Manufacturing Meetings. Oversee and if necessary, complete stocktakes.
Quality & Health & Safety Systems Administration
To assist with the arrangement of plant insurance inspections and maintaining statutory inspection records, including insurance inspections. To work with management teams and employees to ensure Health and Safety standards are met and adhered to. Ensuring Health and Safety mandatory requirements and processes are completed. To oversee and participate in the management of the business systems management certifications, including but not limited to ISO 9001 and FIFA. This shall include the annual management review process, internal audits and legislative reviews. To ensure compliance with controlled procedures and that project files conform to procedures and systems controls. To co-ordinate and administer collation of data and project documentation for project files in compliance with certifications systems; ensuring that all project files are accounted for each project undertaken. To liaise with staff regarding ISO requirements. To prepare files for third party audit and verification and to assist auditors where required. To update ISO environmental and health & safety registers on an annual basis. To undertake internal ISO audits. To provide reports for management meetings.
General
To assist in the daily operations of the manufacturing plant. To cover for the Head of Operations when required. To provide cover when required to ensure that no operational process is run in the absence of at least one senior operative.
