The predicted salary is between 30000 - 40000 £ per year.

Working with us you’ll get a chance to use skills in traditional broadcast support, as well as a mix of broadcast IT including graphics systems, Windows and Linux servers and Cisco networking. We also have a mix of IP streaming systems, from contribution (Ateme, Titan) and distribution (Zixi, Dolby, Techex). You will also undertake system modifications and small projects.

You’ll work as a Broadcast Support Engineer in our busy Milton Keynes broadcast facility, providing 24/7, 365 support. SIS produce TV channels and live streams for customers in the betting industry. We support a number of galleries with automated production, self-op sound booths, SimplyLive replay, two small TV studios, and contribution and distribution systems using satellite and IP. We also support our eSports (OBS, Elgato) and lottery products.

The coming year has some exciting changes to get involved with as we finalise our migration of our remaining baseband video channels to IP-based systems (GV AMPP, NDI, SMPTE 2110). The support team works a 24/7 rota in a six-week pattern (which includes a week off), with additional nights payments.

Key Responsibilities
  • To keep the Support Supervisor/Production Staff appraised of the status of any issues, as appropriate.
  • To log all faults and irregularities and pass information between shifts using ServiceNow.
  • To carry out first and second line support to all broadcast areas including MCR, Production Galleries and Studios.
  • To assist with in-house broadcast project and installation work.
  • Ensure system documentation is up to date.
  • Maintain good working knowledge of industry best practice and remain up to date with the relevant technical standards.
Technical
  • Ability and competence to evaluate technical problems using appropriate broadcast test and measurement equipment.
  • Imaginative approach to problem solving.
  • Good understanding of video and audio broadcast systems.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise and manage time and tasks.
  • Flexible and adaptable.
  • Good Health & Safety awareness.
Skills and Experience
  • A good understanding of the ‘live’ transmission chain in a broadcast environment.
  • Good understanding of broadcast systems and standards.
  • Some experience of IT and networking infrastructure.
  • Some experience of video streaming systems.
  • Knowledge and experience of vision, sound, routing, communication and computer systems as they relate to a television studio or broadcast environment.
  • Broadcast Engineering background and/or a degree or equivalent in Broadcast Engineering/Electronic Engineering.
