An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, enthusiastic and committed practitioner to join the Bristol Children’s Safeguarding team, as a Band 7 Specialist Nurse for Safeguarding Children due to the need for maternity cover for the team for 37.5 hours a week. This will be for a period of 12 months initially. If you already work within Sirona this will be offered as a secondment.
This is a varied role, which includes offering safeguarding supervision and support, delivering integrated Safeguarding training as well as involvement in Child Protection strategies and contribution to MASH and MARAC. We work in partnership with Sirona practitioners, supporting them to provide a safeguarding service to the children, young people, and families they work with.

Main duties of the job:- To facilitate and embed reflective and restorative supervision to all staff and create a culture where practitioners know how to safeguard and protect children.
- To provide line management, supervision and support to team members e.g. ensuring 1:1s, PDR and staff well-being.
- Actively participate within multi-agency safeguarding meetings such as MARAC.
- To participate as a Sirona Health Representative within child protection strategy discussions in line with the agreed delegated framework.
- To participate and contribute to complex Strategy discussions in relation to exploitation.
- To oversee, supervise and support the appropriate delegation of work for all members of the Single point of Access Team.
- To represent Sirona care and health at any multi-agency strategic groups as appropriate. This may include quality assurance or themed sub-groups for the local multi-agency safeguarding arrangements.
- To compile, contribute and oversee the development of chronologies related to existing child review procedures such as Rapid Reviews, Child Safeguarding Practice Reviews.
- To contribute to the development, delivery and facilitation of the Sirona Safeguarding Training Plan.
- To adopt a Think Family approach to all aspects of safeguarding work and facilitate the embedding of this approach into organisation culture.
- To co-ordinate the activity within the SPA through the duty role.

Person specification:- Registered Sick Children’s Nurse / Registered General Nurse / Midwife or School Health Nurse.
- Educated to degree level.
- Teaching or Training Qualification e.g. ENB 998 /997, City & Guilds / experience of developing / delivering training to professional groups.
- Evidence of continuing professional development related to child protection through attendance at short courses.
- Ability to use Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Enhanced DBS disclosure.
- Specialist Community Public Health Nurse.
- Supervision Qualification.
- Post graduate qualification in child protection or equivalent.
- Demonstrate leadership qualities within a Health or Safeguarding role.
- Experience of line management or experience in a coordinator role.
- Experience working with children and families where child safeguarding has been a significant feature.
- Experience of team working and the factors that make teamwork effective together with knowledge of primary care services.
- Up to date knowledge and understanding of best practice and legislation in relation to Safeguarding Children including Human Rights and transition to adult care.
- Experience of developing and/or delivering training/presentations.
- Experience of inter-agency partnership working.
- Recent experience of engagement with the child protection supervision process.
- Experience of Midwifery or sexual health.
