Job overview

Due to successful bid for GIRFT MSK funding, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a senior Project manager to work alongside the GIRFT Clinical Lead and Clinical and Operational Lead (CLOP) for MSK Physiotherapy.

During the 6 months the project manager will help plan and manage the implementation and reporting processes associated with the major MSK transformation programme. This project will include; review and redesign urgent MSK pathways, standardise care delivery and expand group interventions to enhance productivity and long‑term sustainability. Drive referral optimisation and referrer education to reduce inappropriate referrals and improve service efficiency. Improve waiting list quality through robust validation and digital management processes. Audit DNA and cancellation rates to improve patient accessibility including the use of digital engagement, automated reminders and self-booking systems, eliminating18-week waiting list breaches by March 2027,

Liaise closely with MSK CLOP, MSK Physiotherapy leads, and governance groups to ensure a collaborative approach.

The post holder will play a key role in supporting the delivery of strategic priorities across the MSK service, ensuring project objectives are achieved within agreed timescales while maintaining a focus on quality, patient experience, and continuous service improvement.

Main duties of the job

• To contribute to strategic planning and within the overall strategic objectives, lead specific programmes of work to support the delivery of the the corporate and service Transformation Programmes.
• To ensure alignment of work streams and projects to each other and that interdependencies are identified and managed
• Build strong influential relationships with staff at all levels
• Work in a strong and effective corporate manner, working with key managers and departments to ensure priority programmes are successfully achieved
• To champion the PMO approach and help to build capacity and capability in corporate and operational teams contributing to more successful and efficient project delivery through providing guidance and expertise to staff at all levels on project management processes and principles.

Qualifications and training

• Evidence of continuous personal and professional development
• Educated to degree level or equivalent or commensurate level of experience
• Knowledge of local, national, strategic and operational policy developments and awareness of their implications
• Understanding the interfaces between Primary, Acute, Community Care, LA, VCSE sector.
• Nationally recognised qualification (APM, PRINCE2 etc) and/or commitment to undertake the training

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

• Experience working at middle management
• Ability to demonstrate previous experience leading successful projects and programmes
• Ability to lead and facilitate collaborative working across organisation boundaries
