The Children’s Therapy Services identify, assess, support and manage the health needs of children and young people aged 0-18 years, working closely with children and their families in health settings and family homes; and with education colleagues in early years and school settings. As a Specialist Children's Occupational Therapist you will manage your case load independently and carry out a range of therapeutic activities. You will offer clinical expertise and use your knowledge to provide professional care, treatment, advice, guidance and support to children and young people with complex needs. This role is Part Time (22.5 hours per week) Permanent based at Kingswood Hub BS15 4DA.
Main duties of the job:
- You will manage a specialist case load independently and carry out a range of varied therapeutic activities.
- You will use your knowledge and experience to provide professional care, treatment, advice, guidance and support to referred children and young people with Complex Needs.
- You will offer clinical expertise within a specified clinical area.
- You will manage and carry your own case load within a specified clinical area.
- You will provide a safe, client centred, effective and evidence-based therapy service in the community setting.
- You will work within the Children’s Service to deliver clinical activities, supported by a robust competency framework, to children within their own home and other settings such as school/early years or a clinical environment.
- You will be part of an integrated multi-disciplinary team (MDT), which may include Paediatricians, Orthotists, Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, and Physiotherapists.

Qualifications and Training:
- Degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy
- Current HCPC registration
- Post graduate training appropriate to the field of Children’s Occupational / Physio / Speech and Language Therapy
Experience:
- Experience of working with children and young people, often with Complex Needs
- Post graduate training appropriate to the field of Children’s Occupational Therapy
- Experience of MDT working
- Demonstrate ability to use evidence based practice, clear care plans and outcomes measure
- Experience of working in an emotionally stressful environment with patients with life limiting or progressive conditions.
